Koa'e kea at Laupahoehoe

Acrylic on board, 11 x 14 This painting took many trips to Laupahoehoe point to paint. Finally on the last time I painted, the Koae'kea (White tailed tropic birds) came out and I was able to photograph them to add to the painting. I had hoped each time to see them! This is the same kind of bird that soars over active lava at Halemaumau. They like to live in cliffs!
